Volunteers Needed for HT Friday!

Hi, all!

Our next HomeTeam will be this Friday, 7 October, at 7:30pm! We feel like we haven’t seen you guys in FOREVER! We will, unfortunately, be out of town, so Carson and Jesica are going to lead the second lesson in our current study, Virtuous Reality.

Here’s the rub: we need a place to meet, and someone to bring snacks! Can anyone out there host for us? Who would like to bring a little something to nosh, and who would like to bring drinks?

Thanks, all!
Jim & Kara

HT Date Night

Hi guys,

This Friday is our first official hang out of the summer! We originally planned on meeting at Chapel Hill for a movie night on  6/3, but Dana and Tyler, after much thought, decided to move back north. They are so excited about the move and all of the possibilities God has for them there! Instead of meeting at Dana and Tyler’s, we are now going to be doing a HT date night! Grab a babysitter if you need one and join the HT for dinner and a movie Friday night at Highland Village. We’re still working out the details regarding where to eat and which movie to see, but we’ll let you know once the plans are firm. We’re looking forward to seeing you all!

Serving for Easter Services

Do you want to help make an awesome First Impression on the thousands of guests and visitors who will be attending FC this Easter weekend

The volunteer shifts are easy to do, but the impact will be significant! You can help by showing up early to the worship experience you are planning to attend. You will serve until the start of the worship experience then go in and enjoy it.

To volunteer, simply respond to Lori.Lesnansky@fellowshipchurch.com with the Day(s) and Service(s) you’d like to serve.  Additional instructions and information will be coming to you later in the week.

Volunteers will be asked to show up 45 before the service:

SERVICE TIMES (Grapevine):

  • Friday, April 22, 2011
    • 7:00p
  • Saturday, April 23, 2011
    • 4:00pm
    • 6:00pm

  • Sunday, April 24, 2011
    • 8:00am
    • 10:00am

 VOLUNTEER PARKING

Another way we can make great First Impressions on our guests is to park in the Volunteer Parking Lots or the Grass Lot next to the APEX.  By doing so, you allow our guests to not only have the best parking spots, but you help set the table for them to have an awesome worship experience.

We love you all and hope you have an amazing Easter!

- – - Verse of the Week – - -

“Then Jesus warned his followers not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.” Matthew 16:13

Today’s VOTW comes to us courtesy of Phil Ware of Heartlight. In today’s verse, Jesus is talking to the disciples about his mission on earth. One of the biggest mysteries of the Gospels over the years is why Jesus did not want anyone to tell others who he was. Some suggest it was just a psychological ploy to get the people to do just the opposite. Others suggest that he wanted to reveal his identity himself and not have it distorted by well-meaning but ill-informed people.

In my opinion, Jesus didn’t want the people to go around saying who he is because this puts him in a mold, a category, a title, that the people of his day had pre-defined. Jesus wants to redefine the meaning of Son of God. He wants to re-wire the circuits of what people think that it means to be Christ, the Messiah of the Jews. So until he can live it and show it, he refuses to let others spread it. He will let his life, the cross, and his resurrection define his identity. Only then will he send his disciples out to tell the entire world who he is!

There is something wonderfully essential about the cross and resurrection that helps us define Jesus’ identity. Without them, we are not only misinformed, but we are also without a true Savior!
